Midnight Drag Races

On Saturday I went to watch the Wolfpack Hustle 6th Street Drag Races.  Somehow they managed to get the city of Los Angeles, not commonly known as cycling or event friendly, to allow them to shut down the bridge from 6:00 pm - after midnight for the races.  How often do you get to go hang out on a closed road in a city like Los Angeles and watch bike racing after dark.

I have to say the venue and atmosphere were both epic.  A DJ at the finish line and food trucks rounded out the underground party vibe.  The racing started a little late but we were all treated to an epic sunset behind the LA skyline while we waited.  Once the races got going the competition was fierce.

Trying to take pictures of fast action in limited light proved to be exceptionally tough.  I don't have a good flash so I was limited to my crappy on camera flash and had to rely on street lights and other people's flashes to help out.  I suffered through a pretty steep learning curve with settings; you might even argue that I didn't make it very far up the curve.  However, I managed to take a few images that I'm happy with.  Take a look at the album Wolfpack Hustle.
