Ironman Los Cabos

Ironman Los Cabos

When most people think of  Cabo San Lucas in March images of warm beaches, margaritas, and fish tacos come to mind.  But for a crazy few, there are thoughts of Ironman with all the sweating, pain and glory that comes with it.  I'm sure that everyone has heard of an Ironman race but let's put the scope of the race in perspective.  It's made up of a 2.4 mile swiim, 112 mile bike ride followed by a full 26.2 mile marathon.  Any of these would be a good workout alone but together you have one hell of a day.

I went down to Cabo to watch a friend race and have a mini vacation.  The trip was a success on both counts. The venue and weather were a bit on the hot side but otherwise great.  With the stunning views and great athletes there was no shortage of great images to take home.

In case you were wondering, my friend Anabel had a great day.  Everything didn't go as planned but she pushed on and came in 4th in her age group.  Nothing ever goes perfectly in triathlon and it's about how you make the best of the situation.  The race is as much mental as physical especially when you consider even the pros are typically out there longer than any of us are at work on a given day.  You can read about Anabel's race journey on her blog
