Keep Austin Weird

Last weekend, visiting family, I got to spend four hours Austin.  I've been to Texas before but I've never just hung out in Austin.  Despite the t-shirts with "Keep Austin Weird" on them, Austin is a bastion of normal in an otherwise crazy state.  I love the fact that you can have a serious conversation about the merits of different styles of coffee like macchiatos vs cortados, siphon vs pour-overs while eating a Texas Benedict, which is an amped up Eggs Benedict with pork shoulder on cheddar biscuits at Frank - YUM!

In all the states I've traveled to and all the states I've lived in, I don't think I've ever visited a Capitol building before.  The Capitol building in Austin is a great way to kill some time.  It's in great shape and they have worked hard to keep as much original hardware like desks and door hinges a possible.  You can really imagine the way it used to look.

Remember, no matter where you are there are cool things to see and do.  Just walk around and take a look.  You can see the rest of the images in the Austin Gallery.
